Getting Some Love

If you were to ask any surfer who's familiar with Socal to list his or her top Socal surfing spots, chances are not one South Bay spot would be mentioned. In fact, there's probably a better chance that the South Bay spots would be listed on the other end of the spectrum as some of the worst surfing spots in Socal. True, the South Bay isn't Hawaii, Indo, or even the OC for that matter, but it does have its moments. Surfline shows the SB some love and features some of those moments.

So Close, Yet So Far

After seeing what the local spots had to offer yesterday, I decided to do some traveling to see what some of the other spots had to offer today. Yet after crossing county lines and adding close to 150 miles to my odometer, I ending up surfing at one of the local spots. LOL

I decided to keep the water cam dry for my sesh, but bruddah Sal was out there taking some shots.

Super sloppy

It wasn't only sloppy, it was also big. I could have sworn I saw some double overheaders. The wave in the background is a lot bigger than it appears in this pic!

A rare A-framer getting ready to peel.

A point break I came across as I was driving back. With the right conditions, I'm sure this spot would be sick. Definitely looked sharky, though.

Spot Checking

I opted to go Black Friday shopping instead of catching a dawn patrol today. After becoming impatient from standing in a seemingly never-ending line at Walmart, I decided to split and do some spot checking. I was expecting to see some liquid goodness, but I really didn't see anything good. Everywhere I checked was pretty walled.

I made a quick stop and took this picture with my phone. This was the best spot of all the spots I checked

It just wasn't working here

Mahalogiving

I was going to catch a sesh this morning, but after I took a look at the cams and saw what was awaiting me, I decided to go over to my mom's for breakfast instead. Nothing like a pre-Thanksgiving dinner meal of homemade loco mocos to get the gastric juices flowing. After breakfast, I decided to see what was good at the beach. Not much going on, but the clear water and warm Santa Anas sure made it look tempting.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Aloha: Never leave home without it, even if you have to take it with you on a faux license plate

The clear water sure made it look tempting

Checking out a spot from my car that should be noice for the next few days (although you would never be able to tell just by looking at it this morning)

It's Getting a Little Nippy

I rolled up to the beach this morning and felt the morning chill. I got into the water and I was relieved that the water wasn't that cold. In fact, I felt warmer in the water than I did on land. The waves were pretty good in the beginning of my sesh, but got inconsistent by the end of my sesh.

Thanks to braddah Bran for manning the cam today. I'll post the video later today or tomorrow.

Incognito

The brisk offshore winds had me donning a hoodie this morning. I felt like Laurence Fishburne going Deep Cover with my hoodie and tele-zoom. Anyway, the offshore winds were a pleasant surprise, especially considering the winds were supposed to jack everything up today. It was definitely on the smaller side, but a lower tide would have had me kicking myself for not bringing my gear.

You can't see me. haha

Foggy? Yes. Fun? Eh, Not so Much.

I was hoping to get the tail end of the swell that we had this weekend. Mother Nature had different plans, though, and provided some gnarly fog instead. I decided to make the most of it; after all, I couldn't let a mid-week day off go to waste.

Special thanks to all the military veterans on this Veterans' Day.

Fall Session

I had a decent sesh for the first time in a long time today. It definitely felt like a fall sesh with the water being a little colder since my last sesh.
