One for July

I just realized that I haven't posted a blog entry in July yet. With August quickly approaching, I figured I'd dig up a few pics and post a blog entry to avoid going 0-for-31 in July.

I haven't been blogging much because the morning lighting conditions haven't been good - typical June gloom. Ever since I figured out that that thing called lighting is kinda important when taking pictures, I've been progressively more judicious in regards to when I take pictures. I think I need to go back to the roots of this blog, which is taking pics (and videos) just to stoke out the boys regardless of the conditions. That said, I'm taking this blog back to 2008/2009, crooked horizons and [very] out-of-focus shots, and all! lol

Another reason why I haven't been blogging much lately is because I've been surfing more. I've recently lost a few pounds which has helped my riding quite a bit. Who'd a thunk that surfing could be fun when you don't get winded after catching one wave and you can actually ride the board instead of sinking it.

Always stoked to see Phil on the boog.

On another note: I'll be going home to Hilo in September. The waves were small the last two times that I've gone home. I'm hoping for a change in fortune this time around; after all, the third time's the charm, right?

A pic from the last time I went home

Even though the waves were small the last two times that I went home, the conditions were pristine. Being one of the rainiest cities in the U.S., I was surprised that Hilo provided nice conditions two trips in a row.
