Run-of-the-Mill Sesh

It was pretty much your average sesh for this particular spot. None the less, it felt good to get out there and chill with the bruddahs.

The End of an Era

After 15 years, Ron Ziebell will be closing his brick-and-mortar store Alternative Surf. I decided to stop by Alternative Surf this morning, if nothing more than to express my appreciation for all that Ron has done. I chatted with Ron a little bit, bought some stuff, and then wished him luck in his future endeavors. It's really a bummer that he's closing shop.

As you might imagine, there's a good sale going on at AS. 30%-50% off everything. Toobs boards are buy-one-get-one-free (I think Science boards are BOGO, too). This sale is going on until the end of the year.

I decided to check out a couple of the local spots this morning. Nice shape, but small.

After my spot check, I decided to go slab hunting. Haha

Sad to see this place close

Saturday's Lefts

Even though the waves were small, there were some fun little lefts coming through. It got a little crowded by the time I got out, but if you were on it before the crowds showed up, you probably left with a little grin on your face.

Creed with a nice rollo.

Just Had to Get Wet

I hadn't been able to catch a sesh for while (I'm still bummed that I missed last week's swell), so since I was able to take today off, I decided to catch a dawn patrol. Not much out there except a super high tide, but it felt good just to get wet.

One thing about weekday dawn patrols: The waves might not improve as it gets later, but at least the crowd thins out. If I had taken this picture about a half an hour later, there would be only a couple of people in it.

Curious

I was curious to see how the swell was filling in this afternoon, so I ran down to one of the local spots at about 4:30. I was expecting it to be bigger, but I guess the swell is still on its way. Anyway, I snapped a couple of pics, grabbed a pie from the Manhattan Pizzeria, and then decided to retreat to warmth of my home (it's cold out there!).

Overcast and Just Plain Over it

The overcast skies this morning didn't provide the best environment for taking pictures, but I did what I could. The tide was super high, again. The water was already covering the barnacles on the pillars by 9 o'clock and the peak of the high tide wasn't until 11-something. I'm over this high tide and the swampiness that comes along with it.

Super High Tide

Even though the tide was super high this morning, there were some corners to work with. Offshore winds, an uncrowded line-up, and a nice clear morning topped it off, which made for a fun sesh.
