Memorial Day 2012

Happy Memorial Day to all, and a very special thank you to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

This year's Memorial Day sesh was quite the opposite of last year's Memorial Day sesh - instead of "choke" bodyboarders, there were just three of us in the line-up this morning. The waves weren't that good, but it was one of those I-just-gotta-get-wet kind of days.

Better Wind

After seeing how gusty the onshore winds were yesterday, I wasn't expecting clean surf this morning. However, the onshore winds subsided just enough overnight, and relatively clean surf greeted me when I pulled up to the beach this morning. Even though gusty onshore winds started kicking not too long after I arrived, I was stoked that there was at least a small window of clean surf this morning.

Country roads Hawaiian Airlines, take me home, to the place I belong.

BIA Tour 2012: Salt Creek

The third stop of the 2012 BIA Tour went down yesterday at Salt Creek. Once again I was stoked on the talent in the Pro DK division. Congrats to Bobby who won said division yesterday.

To all the mothers: Happy Mother's Day!

Nick didn't enter this contest, but I'm always stoked to see him on the knee.

Favorable Expectations

I caught word that a possible DK Wars event was going to take place at a certain spot today. Unfortunately, the waves weren't good enough at that spot to hold the event. I decided to cruise the area anyway and found some better-than-expected surf at another spot. Gotta love it when the double-edged sword that is expectations works in your favor!
