Zachfest 2013

On Saturday, family and friends of the late Zach Solomon got together in remembrance of him. It's hard to believe that it's been a year since Zach passed away. Although Zach is not here in person, it was evident by the turnout on Saturday that he's still here in spirit.

Zachfest, as Saturday's event in remembrance of Zach was called, consisted of coming together for a free surf, a paddle out, a t-shirt sale, a board raffle, pizza and some tender words about Zach from Zach's father Jim. The proceeds from the t-shirt sale and board raffle will be donated to the Sarcoma Cancer Institute of America.

Thanks to all who participated in this event. Special thanks to the Solomon family, Scott Wyant, Ray Green, and Bobby Kithcart for making this event possible. Also, thanks to Phase One Surfboards for donating a surfboard as the prize for the surfboard raffle.

Nancy was the winner of the board raffle

Going Out Of My Way

It's funny how I'll go out of my way to surf a spot that more often than not makes me want to puke. You can almost feel hepatitis, e. coli, salmonella, and the Zimbabwe fleshing eating bacteria crawling all over you. Nevertheless, when this spot is working (and it usually isn't), it's one of my favorite spots.

Anyway, I had some stuff to do this morning, but I made some time to check out said spot since I had a hunch that it might be working. It wasn't really working as I was hoping for, but I ended up catching a sesh anyway.

Here are two shots from this morning:
